Founded in 1852, Union Baptist Church remains committed to sharing the good news of the Gospel, not only by the preaching and teaching of the Word, but by trying to live the Gospel as a Servant Church, following divine edicts to create the beloved community.

Our mission finds tangible expression in ministries designed to transform broken lives and to empower the historic, Upton Community where God has given us residence. From 1967 to 2007, we were guided in our mission by The Reverend Vernon N. Dobson. Elected to the office of Pastor in February 2007 was The Reverend Dr. Alvin C. Hathaway, Sr., a son of the church .
