The mission of the Welcome Circle is to encourage each other as we individually and collectively support the spiritual, cultural and financial goals of Union Baptist Church. The Circle members grow in love for each other as we plan together (sometimes over dinner) and strive together to assist the entire congregation in its outreach to spiritually and/or materially-needy persons in the neighborhood beyond our walls.

Circle members receive great joy from the sponsorship of our annual Christmas party (including a visit from Santa) for approximately 250 youngsters enrolled in Union Baptist Headstart Program.

Welcome Circle members are also blessed by our fellowship with each other at our annual summer family picnics, and as we celebrate each other’s joys, and achievements. We also grow in Christian faith through our opportunities to care for each other during times of struggle, illness, and sorrow.

We stand on the shoulders and follow the example of many of our deceased members, including Catherine Adams, Isador Oglesby, Myrtice Bennett and Dorothe Johnson, whose past leadership and dedicated service still inform our journey.
